Graduation Requirements

There are general requirements that need to be fulfilled by any student before graduating from the College.  A minimum of 122 semester hours of total course work are required for graduation. Additionally, a minimum GPA (grade point average) of 2.0 in all course work and 2.0 in the major are required.  A full-time semester load is 12-18 credit hours, with students typically completing about 30 hours per year.

Most students will graduate from the College under the degree requirements listed in the College of Charleston Undergraduate Catalog for the year they entered the College.  Thus, if you enrolled in the College as a freshman or a transfer student during the 2009-2010 academic year, the catalog you will likely use to track your completion of all graduation requirements is the2009-2010 Undergraduate Catalog.  If you remain a student who is continuously enrolled at the College, then you will also have the option to use a later catalog to fulfill all of the graduation requirements.  For instance, if you first enrolled in the College in the 2009-2010 academic year, then you can choose to graduate under your own catalog or a subsequent catalog, such as the 2010-2011 catalog. You should track your progress towards an undergraduate degree in Communication by using a Program of Study Worksheet.
