Please note: COMM 280/281 is a two-semester course. Students will be automatically enrolled in the second section of the course during the registration period. The course will be scheduled on the same day and times with the same professor both semesters.

For example, a student with a specific interest in digital media, public relations, or health communication might select course sections that specifically address her or his preferred area of specialization. Communication Minor

Please refer to course catalog for all requirements and pre-requisites.

Students in the communication minor must complete a minimum of six hours in 300- or 400-level communication courses.  At least nine hours in the minor at the 200 level or above must be earned at the College of Charleston.

Minor Requirement: 18 credit hours  (see PDF version)

Speaking Requirement (3-6 credit hours)

Select one of the following options: 

COMM 104 Public Speaking (3)
      OR 
COMM 280 and 281 Introduction to Communication Messages (6)

Required Core Courses (6 credit hours)

Select 6 credit hours from the following:

Elective Courses (6-9 credit hours)

Choose 2 if you took COMM 280/281, choose 3 if you took COMM 104. Total credit hours for minor must equal 18.
